We stayed at 4 different places during our week long Odissa visit and I have to say that Sterling Puri won hands down in all categories to get a 5 star on their review! When we reached the hotel and disembarked, the yummy lemon drink was just the right welcome drink we needed from our long travel. The front office staff were very quick at assigning our room. The luggage was handled well and brought immediately to our room. Information like breakfast time, details on the Gala New Year dinner were all shared with us without us having to ask for anything. The staff were extremely friendly and knew very well to have short, polite and pleasant conversations with their guests. The room provided was neat and tidy, house keeping was always done well and request for extra bed/bath towels etc were always handled very quickly. We ordered food through room service and that was handled well too. The restaurant staff were kind. The breakfast spread was very good, fresh and the place was maintained spic and span. The restaurant staff also offered to have us sign up for lunch+dinner combo which works out to be a cheaper deal. They brought mini slices of cake to the room due to Christmas time. Also on New Year’s Eve they handed each guest a bag containing Lord Jagannathji’s Prasad placed in a cute Sterling Puri Jute Bag. The New Year Gala dinner organized was very good – the large spread of a variety of cuisine was amazing. They had an event management company take over the entertainment (and unfortunately that event management could have done a lot better as the compere was shouting into the mike and singers were subpar. Dance items seemed over modern. A 360 degree camera they had put up was very good though! )
The staff of the hotel joined in on the dance floor as a finale and it was wonderful to finally see all the staff who had put their heart and soul into making this event so elaborate have a good time! The amount of work that the staff had put in for this one evening cannot be expressed in words. We still saw the various managers and supervisors smiling and talking to their guests and making sure everything was well taken care of despite their tiredness.
If you ever visit Puri, make sure to stay at Sterling as you get to meet a bunch of great people who work well and are extremely professional while not losing the personal touch that hospitality requires! Special mention to Mr. Satya with whom we had multiple interactions over our stay and found to be upbeat and positive each and every time!
I would also like to thank all the staff at the front office, restaurant and special mention to the team of strong girls who would load and unload luggage from the cars breaking barriers one luggage at a time!
