Sterling Puri, is an age old property. It’s been there since 90s and I had always heard about it’s luxurious resort. This 28th of September got a chance to visit the revamped Sterling Resort, and must say it blew me off, it welcomed me beyond expectations. Their location is a bit far from the crowded lanes of mainland Puri and transportation can be an issue but you can be assured if you book cars from the resort itself. Their way of welcoming is beyond expectations, traditional odia welcoming is a common thing there along with tender coconut. After getting the room keys i was pretty excited to see the room and went ahead. As expected, the room was modern and chic with a pretty huge balcony which had amazing ocean view. They even placed fresh fruits, sweets and cookies to welcome us. After check in, they planned us a tour to Raghurajpur, a heritage crafts village. The tour was an eye opener about Patachitra Crafts and Gotipua Dance. Later in the afternoon they took us to Sudarshan Crafts Museum to take a close look on the age old traditional sculptures, how they are made and how they keep the heritage alive. We spent the evening in the resort taking a dip in the pool and then experiencing the three main odia dance forms Odissi, Gotipua and Sambalpuri along with some lip smacking sumptuous starters from Sterling’s kitchen.
For dinner they had a lavish buffet spread along with the special mention of Daab Chingri which was simply delectable. After dinner as we headed to the room we were mesmerized again, the evening services left a goodnight note written on a leaf, these small things take the experience of the guests to a whole new level.
The next morning they planned us a tour to Chilika and Seamouth. Both of which were amazing as we could even spot a couple of Dolphins. After the tour we headed back to the resort had lunch and then we went for a resort tour, must say it’s a pretty spread out resort and to maintain such a vast resort is a huge thing, kudos to the Sterling team. They have different varieties of rooms, the studio and two bedrooms are usually reserved for their timeshare members the and we stayed in the classic sea view rooms.
All in all, Sterling seems to be the best among its competitors. Had a great staycation with Sterling.
