I am in complete awe of this place and especially their tents!
I booked Sterling Kanha online and we booked tents for our two nights stay. And, it included breakfast. However, upon arrival I realized that the hotel is at secluded place and there is no option to eat outside unless you have a car to drive to the nearest restaurants. So, we decided to go for the meals in hotel itself which is slightly expensive. So, we contacted Mr. Ashish (restaurant manager) and he had various packages for meals.
Mr. Ashish and his team is very very dedicated and ensures that every guest needs are taken care. He even asked us if there is anything that we wanted to have for our daughter which wasn’t there in the buffet. We were checking out early and asked if we can have breakfast 15 mins early and he said he will arrange something for us which was again a very kind gesture.
They have a naturalist (Mr. Radhey) and he is very informative. I wish we had a time to go for a bird track with him in jungle. May be next time 🙂
Now, the place! I have stayed in few resorts near the jungles in different part of the country and heard lot of stories about big cats coming to the hotel or nearby ground. But, if there is one place where I actually believed that a big cat can be spotted is Kanha Sterling. Out tent was the last tent in the row and I was actually scared to walk alone in night. Though the hotel staff assured me that tiger don’t come here but it felt like living in the forest. And, it was a thrilling experience.
The whole place is dimly lit in night which adds to the beauty of this awesome place. Just look above and you can see the numerous stars in the sky, ah! It was lovely.
Next day morning we left for the safari and they gave us a basket with snacks and water bottle. They also provided blankets to keep us warm in morning safari.
When we came back from the morning safari, we received a call from the hotel staff and they told us that we have been upgraded to the highest category – Room with Machan at no additional cost. We were happy for the room upgrade. But, after spending a night at room, I realized that the tent was far better than the room. Tent gave us the true feeling of living in jungle. I enjoyed tent more than the room.
Overall, it was a great stay and I can recommend it to anyone coming to Kanha. One advise, book it with all meals inclusive so that you know the overall cost beforehand.
